Frono takes its name from phronesis (φρόνησις), Aristotle’s word for practical wisdom: the skill of judging well in a particular, uncertain moment — given the limited facts.
This happened in Denmark, earlier this year.
Denmark has announced a , due to take effect in July 2027.
Denmark says children need stronger protection from the risks of social media, including harmful content, addictive algorithms and the pressure to stay constantly connected. The proposal would set the minimum age at 15.
Keeping children off social media is meant to protect them. What else would it do ?
You can select up to 2 options
An age limit on social media may move some children onto other platforms, private messaging or shared accounts, where what a child sees is hard for any adult to observe.
When friendships, plans and jokes live on social media, a child kept off social media can lose contact with the group as well as losing contact with the danger.
Much of what children carry on social media is comparison: appearance, popularity, and the sense of falling short. Removing the platform removes the daily measurement.
If social media stops being where children spend time, the places children used to gather — school, sport, the street outside — may take that time back.
